What is it about?

Timing side channel attack is a kind of attack that takes advantage of the time difference caused during the running of a program to infer confidential information. This article provides a systematic elaboration of the threat model, attack conditions, applicable platforms, and defense objectives of this type of attack. Through this article, we can better understand the boundaries of the attacker's capabilities, and how the defender can formulate an effective defense strategy against the defense target. Finally, we give a discussion of prospective research directions.
