What is it about?
Computer science (CS) teacher preparation programs often treat CS as an apolitical subject. However, research in social sciences has shown that technology is deeply connected to issues of power and inequality. This paper proposes a new curriculum that integrates justice and equity into computing education for future teachers. It also argues that the current political climate makes it more important than ever to bring these issues to the forefront of CS education.

Why is it important?
Given recent political attacks against diversity, inclusion and equity, this paper builds on the argument as to why it's necessary to include these issues in STEM and CS education.
Perspectives
This article is the culmination of testing this curriculum with the same CS teacher cohort and discussions with leading experts in AI, CS, and Data education. I hope by situating the argument in science and technology studies (which is a well established field) that a new layer of understanding can be reached as to why its vital we understand computer science as a political topic.
