What is it about?
Solid, a decentralized web standard, aims to help people have their own secure online storage and a special ID called WebID to identify them. But not many people are using WebIDs yet, and companies are unsure how to make potential users comfortable with them. This research uses the Theory of Planned Behaviour to see how talking about control, personalization, and easy logins (SSO) can convince more people to actually start using WebIDs.

Why is it important?
Our results show that highlighting the benefits of personalized experiences and presenting WebIDs as a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution leads to increased adoption rates compared to focusing on enhanced personal data control. Businesses aiming to promote WebID adoption should be mindful in their messaging to address privacy concerns and tap into the appeal of convenience.
Perspectives
I trust this article will assist businesses contemplating the use of Solid in boosting user adoption. This way, both businesses and users can reap the rewards of Solid's potential as an innovative approach to managing personal online data.
