What is it about?
Traffic monitoring is crucial for urban management, maintenance, and planning as it helps reduce congestion, manage emergencies, inform future transportation projects, etc. Our system, TelecomTM, leverages the existing network of telecommunication cables to track and characterize vehicles by sensing the ground vibrations they create.

Why is it important?
The use of pre-existing telecommunication fiber cables for traffic monitoring is a novel approach that takes advantage of the extensive network already in place globally.
