What is it about?

Healthcare is a critical environment for society due to the impact that its operations and procedures performed on it. This fact attracts the attention of cybercriminals who want to leverage health data's criticality and sensibility. In relation to this issue, this paper presents a complete review of security and privacy issues, as well as the current mechanisms used to protect this environment. Finally, it exposes the future directions and options to improve this environment.

Why is it important?

Our main difference regarding other works is the alignment of the security and privacy issues found in the literature with a globally-accessible knowledge base such as MITRE ATT&CK to join such threats with a widely used framework.

Perspectives

We hope this article helps cybersecurity researchers in the healthcare field, having an excellent basis to start with following studies in this area. The idea was to provide a database with the current security and privacy status in this environment.
