What is it about?
Fake news systems recently started to include factual explanations with reasons a given claim is false. Research showed that balanced explanations that nudge recipients into reflective states are more efficient. We argue personalization is the nudge.

Why is it important?
Fake news has been linked to the rise of psychological disorders, the increased disbelief in science, and the erosion of democracy and freedom of speech. Fake news explanation has been identified as a crucial addition to fake news detection systems. The chief objective of these explanations is to educate the news consumers, which may require a change in their preconceived beliefs. We argue that explanations that evoke emotional responses and are aligned with individual personality traits and cognitive styles carry better odds of changing user beliefs than text-based factual explanations.
Perspectives
I hope this article helps to bridge the gap between psychology research, emotion theory, creative computing, and artificial intelligence that exists for the implementation of more efficient systems to combat the spread of fake news.
