What is it about?
After providing a primer into quantum computing and especially quantum machine learning we describe a demo using quantum machine learning for optimizing database queries. We elaborate on other opportunities and future work for database research from the database as well as from the quantum perspective.

Why is it important?
Quantum machine learning has not been investigated much so far for their applications in databases. This paper can open up a new research field for database research.
Perspectives
It was a great pleasure to co-author this publication, which is a joint work between leading researchers in the intersection of quantum computing and databases from the University of Helsinki, OTH Regensburg and University of Lübeck.
