What is it about?

Games have become increasingly popular in many software domains. This paper introduces an automated test generation tool that evolves neural networks capable of testing games reliably. We empirically demonstrate the effectiveness of our tool on 25 Scratch programs.

Why is it important?

Even though the gaming market keeps growing, there are hardly any fully automated testing frameworks. To the best of the author's knowledge, our approach is the first fully automated testing framework that does not require human interference to validate the correctness of game-like programs.

Perspectives

In the programming education domain, games often serve as a motivating project to teach young students essential concepts of programming. However, there is a huge lack of tools that assist young learners throughout their development journey. With this and future work, I hope to close this gap in tools to make programming a fun experience for students.
