What is it about?
Foveated rendering enables efficient rendering for head-mounted displays by reducing image quality in the periphery. We propose a novel enhancement technique that further reduces the computational cost by replacing fine spatial details with inexpensive procedural noise tuned to the underlying content and the limitations of human perception.

Why is it important?
Our work will enable better quality real-time rendering on VR headsets. It is an important step towards the goal of completely realistic real-time VR. Our work also highlights how interesting our perception of the world is and how we can trick the human brain using visual content.
