What is it about?

This article is about Africa's struggle to keep the economy afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a comparative analysis between two countries - Tanzania and Ghana - and tries to look at how the leaders of these two countries have handled the pandemic in relation to the economy of their countries. It also talks about the reaction from citizens of these two countries through social media, on the way their leaders are handling the pandemic.

Why is it important?

This is a very timely article. It was written at a period when the world was in the first wave of the virus, and there were already talks of the possibility of a second wave. It is important because it talks about two different strategies taken by leaders to address the pandemic, so it is worth noting that "one size doesn't fit all" when it comes to tackling life-threatening issues.

Perspectives

This was my very first academic articles, so writing it was a learning experience in its own. I have learnt a lot on how articles are written, and the process involved in drafting, reviewing, editing, and taking in the comments by reviewers and editors. My co-author is a very close friend, so working with him on this was an enjoyable experience, and I am sure that both of us have learnt a lot. I'm also looking forward to many mo co-authorships with him.
