What is it about?
Computing locally injective mapping from a source mesh to a fixed target domain is an important but unsolved problem in computer graphics. By lifting the target mesh to a higher dimensional space and measure its area/volume there, we have proposed a novel energy, whose minimizating leads to injective mappings. The method has theoretical guarantee and shows 100% success on a benchmark dataset consisting of thousands of meshes.
