What is it about?
A software component framework consisting of self supported decision entities which can interact intelligently, based on domain knowledge encoded in the interaction framework has been defined for enabling scientific workflows for processing data.

Why is it important?
Analog signals and data from systems, processes, devices and equipment have to be processed for decision support in industrial environments. A single data scientist is not sufficient for performing a complex task for decision support which can add value to the data stakeholders. A software component framework with intelligent components, which can make decisions based on domain knowledge/context is a pressing need for current analog data/signal analysis.
Perspectives
We have seen acquisition, analysis, processing, and computational frameworks defined for analog data in an industrial environment. There is still a pressing need for decision support covering the entire lifecycle of data (from raw data to decisions). Computational tools which can aid in decision support are needed, which are based on domain knowledge. This will aid in bringing together domain experts and data scientists for joint decisions.
