What is it about?
Big Data provides the opportunity for companies to obtain competitive advantages over their competitors. The development and implementation of a Big Data ecosystem in an organization is a very complex task that includes not only technological aspects, but also the management of the organization's policies and people. In order to help to carry out this task successfully, different frameworks for the development and implementation of a Big Data ecosystem have been proposed in the literature. However, there are other important aspects that they do not consider. With the aim of overcoming the above issues, this paper proposes a framework for the development and implementation of a Big Data ecosystem in an organization that takes into account the main features of Big Data technology, and avoids all the identified weaknesses of the existing Big Data frameworks.

Why is it important?
This framework is very useful for guiding organizations that wish to develop or implement a Big Data ecosystem, since it provides a methodology that indicates in a clear and detailed way each activity and task to be carried out in each of the phases that compose it. It also offers a comprehensive understanding of the system. Moreover, it provides great control over the project and its scope, consequences, opportunities and needs.
