What is it about?

We discovered an anomalously fast growth of the c-facet of a 4He crystal induced by acoustic waves. We developed a new crystal growth mechanism that collisions of high speed steps accompanied by superflow induces the multiplication of steps leading to a larger step density. This model reproduces the observed power and temperature dependence well and also has a quantitative agreement with the experiment.
