What is it about?

The scratch response of a polymer requires a rigous treatment from several work concerns, i.e., material behavior, damage mechanism and mechanics analysis. This work showed the experimental results of polymers scratch and analysed the scratch damage mechanism from the viewpoint of mechanics.

Why is it important?

For polymer products, scratch on their surface is unpleasant because it not only does harm to on their aesthetics, but also severely declines the maintaining of their functionalities and even shortens their service life. The scratch performance of polymers is significantly influenced by their mechanical properties. This work gives a systematical analysis on the correlation between the scratch performance of polymers and their mechanical properties.
