Diel patterns of leaf carbohydrate concentrations differ between seedlings and mature trees of two sympatric oak species

What is it about?

Carbohydrates are the building blocks of plants. They are synthesized in the presence of light in photosynthesis, and utilized for growth and maintenance processes. Here we show that the leaf carbohydrate levels in two oak species are highly dynamic during the day, but only in seedlings, not in tall trees.
