What is it about?

An aneurismal bone cyst is a solitary, locally invasive, expansile, osteolytic lesion with multiple intra-lesional septa that contains free-flowing blood, primarily seen in immature patients. They appear relatively rare in domestic animals. A wide variety of methods have been described for the treatment of ABCs in human and veterinary medicine; however, the optimal treatment method is still being debated. In human medicine, percutaneous sclerotherapy has been described as a safe and easy treatment method and as an alternative to surgery. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this treatment has not been reported in the dog. In this case report, we describe a presumed aneurysmal bone cyst in the ulna of an immature dog treated by percutaneous sclerotherapy with ethanol.
