What is it about?

This case report involved a child who presented to the Emergency Department with a penetrating neck trauma by No. 2 pencil. The patient was hemodynamically stable, although the initial assessment raised some unique questions about radiological method of choice in such a scenario, given the unknown scanning quality of the pencil. Also unknown was the exact classification, and therefore management, of the vascular zone that was compromised. The report contributes some unique details such as these that can help guide future management of similar patient presentations.
