Why is it important?

Angiogenesis is an important element of brain AVM formation and evolution. AVMs are coplex lesions and their current treatment carries significant morbidity and mortality risks. For this reason an alternative treatment non or minimally invasive like the antiangiogenic drugs could potentially be efficient. The purpose of this model development is to show histologic evidence of angiogenesis that resemble those of brain AVMs in order to be used for the test of antiangiogenic agents.
