Mental health service users’ progression from illicit drug use to schizophrenia in New Zealand

What is it about?

Young New Zealanders diagnosed with drug or alcohol problems were followed for three years through their health service records. Five times as many cannabis and/or methamphetamine problem users developed schizophrenia than did alcohol abusers.
