What is it about?
We measured the time required for sham nitro to reach the end of the cannula in common infusion devices: 18g PIVC, 15g 45mm IO, 7F Triple lumen CVC, 5F introducer catheter and the effect of a 30mL drive or carrier line on the time-to-infusion.

Why is it important?
Many of us do not know how dead space effects infusion time. There are many high concentration, low rate of administration drugs used in resuscitation and critical care. We performed this study to illustrate the relationship between time to drug, dead space aka priming volume and carrier lines.
