What is it about?
Improving outcomes from sepsis in children is a WHO Global Health Priority, yet mortality from sepsis remains high, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This database from children with community-acquired childhood sepsis in LMICs and some high-income countries will allow analysis of the burden of disease, including incidence, severity and outcomes.

Why is it important?
This study will demonstrate the feasibility of manual data extraction and transfer from multiple countries with different healthcare systems and research infrastructure.
Perspectives
To create an international sepsis database and collect data over a 1-year period. To develop feasible inclusion criteria and outcomes, and establish feasibility of data collection and transfer, to be used in the design and conduct of future interventional trials in children with suspected sepsis
