What is it about?
This study aimed to evaluate the nutrition competence of primary care physicians in Saudi Arabia and to determine the association between nutrition competence and provision of nutrition care. The physicians in this study felt moderately confident in their knowledge and skills in nutrition but did not report discussing nutrition with patients very often. The findings are important given the increasing demand for primary care physicians to provide nutrition care to patients with diet-related chronic conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.
