What is it about?

Multiple sclerosis (MS), the most common neurological disease causing disability in young adults, is widely recognized as major stress factor, negatively affecting patients’ psychological wellbeing, quality of life and social functioning. The first years after the diagnosis are particularly distressing in terms of adjustment to the disease.
We aim to investigate the resilience and quality of life of young adults recently diagnosed with MS applying a bio-psycho-social approach. We will investigate how biological, clinical, social, and psychological aspects might be linked to young patients’ resilience and quality of life.
The findings of this study will help to develop resilience interventions tailored to the specific needs of this group of patients.
