What is it about?
HSTnT>50ng/l ( biomarker for heart attacks) alone, or in combination with an additional independent predictor, in the context of suspected heart attack patients, appears an effective strategy to identify high risk NSTEMI. Analyses with patients presenting early with heart attacks are necessary to extend these results. Interpretation: The findings of this analysis could help inform pathways for heart attacks (that often do not result to complete blockage of a heart artery) and reduce death rates for high risk heart attakcs by earlier redirection for treatment such as a stent or bypass surgery. A change in policy with earlier definite treatment for high risk heart attacks could also drastically reduce length of stay and free up beds in hospitals with accident and emergency departments.
