What is it about?
We performed a large-scale hospital-based cross-sectional study to find out the effect modification by gender of OSA characteristics on dyslipidemia. We have found that males (but not females) with severe OSA, higher ODI or higher MAI were at higher risks of some measures of dyslipidemia. And positive interactions of male and severe OSA or intermittent hypoxia on some measures of dyslipidemia were evident. Thus, we concluded that dyslipidemia in patients with OSA should be evaluated, especially in male patients with severe OSA or intermittent hypoxia.
