What is it about?

This is a rapid response to a BMJ article on the contraceptive pill, highlighting the importance of distinguishing clearly between combined and progesterone only contraceptive pills.

Why is it important?

Confusion about which type of pill is being taken ( i.e. progesterone only or combined oestrogen and progesterone) can cause clinical errors, and can also result in women taking their pill incorrectly, causing unintended pregnancy.
