Evacuation of a large traumatic vulvar haematoma with an intravaginal cosmetic approach

What is it about?

There is scarcity of literature and practice guidelines pertaining to management of non obstetrical vulvar hematomas. Although rare, this is very relevant to the clinical practice. In today’s era of increasing importance on perception of self body image, it is becoming imperative for surgeons to adopt surgical techniques which in addition to being effective are also aesthetically sound. This is especially important when one is operating on an anatomically and personally sensitive area like the vulva. We describe the evacuation of a large vulvar hematoma through an intra-vaginal approach which yielded superior cosmetic results and no scarring on the vulva.
