What is it about?

Neck masses, i.e. lumps arising somewhere in your neck, can be ascribed to anything ranging from malformations to malignant tumors. Not all diagnoses are equally straightforward and this specific case of a serendipitously encountered mass represent a paradigm of challenging management.

A good management workflow can help manage almost any neck mass with the utmost safety for the patient. Nevertheless non functioning adenomas represent a particularly obnoxious condition when it comes to diagnosis and this case where the adenoma was giant and deeply located in the neck represent one of the most stimulating diagnostic challenges a neck surgeon might encounter.

Perspectives

A challenging but nevertheless brilliantly managed case can be a valuable lesson for a surgeon and the multiple diagnostic tools emplyed in this case are worth remembering...
