What is it about?
The erector spinae plane block is a novel technique that can be used as an alternative to both the paravertebral and epidural blocks. This new interfascial plane block is hypothesised to target the ventral and dorsal rami of spinal nerves. Results from this study show favourable spread into the paravertebral, epidural and intercostal spaces in a paediatric population. However, the concentration and volume for this block is yet to be standardized for the different age groups.
