What is it about?
A 38-year old diabetic male presented with right sided facial swelling with necrotic palatal ulcer. The patient was diagnosed to have rhino-orbital mucormycosis and was started on liposomal amphotericin but developed pancytopenia on treatment. Repeat challenge with lower doses of amphotericin lead to similar results. Eventually, he had to be treated with oral posaconazole therapy.
