What is it about?

Despite the rising demand for clinician-educators, residents often lack any formal training in teaching, curriculum development, or educational research. Internal medicine residency programs have developed Clinician-Educator Tracks (CETs) for housestaff interested in future careers as clinician-educators. Only 24% (n=36) of programs offered a CET, the majority of which have been available for only 5 years or less. Bedside teaching, feedback, small-group teaching, and curriculum development are the most commonly taught topics, and faculty mentorship and small group teaching methods are the most commonly utilized types of instruction.
