What is it about?

Fast treatment action was the strategy to improve stroke medicine. Why should hast action not be relevant to optic neuritis? This review summarises revised and updated evidence on strategies enabling fast treatment of patients with optic neuritis. The author team includes patients, patient representatives and advocates, Regulatory Authority Representatives, statisticians, health economists and medics from different backgrounds. The conclusion is, start a new trial to demonstrate that: Time is Vision.

Why is it important?

This is important for future vision saving treatment in patients who suffer from optic neuritis.

Perspectives

Very likely there is a need for rapid start of treatment in optic neuritis. Current evidence is only anecdotal. There is therefore a need for a state of the art treatment trial. Design of such a treatment trial should include patients and patient advocates, consider novel outcome measures and strategies to predict a treatment response.
