What is it about?
Quercetin, a natural plant polyphenol has been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in chronic models of inflammation. Therefore it may be useful treating inflammatory conditions in subjects with chronic obstructive lung disease. As a first step, it is necessary to determine the safety of quercetin supplementation in COPD patients. In this pilot study with small number of subjects, we demonstrate that quercetin is safely tolerated up to 2000 mg/day in COPD patients.
