What is it about?

Abstract
Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease in which endometrium-like tissue is present outside of the uterus. Primary symptoms are pain, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, painful urination and
defecation. The aim of this study was to explore how persons with endometriosis experienced
their health after dietary changes. Twelve persons with endometriosis aged 28 – 44 were recruited from two Swedish endometriosis support forums on the Internet. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted and analysed with thematic analysis. The participants made individually dietary changes and experienced decreased symptoms and improved wellbeing in form of decreased pain and increased energy. Although study is qualitative in nature and direct comparison of dietary changes cannot be made, the explored experiences from the interview data facilitates our understanding of using diet change to relieve symptoms of endometriosis.
