What is it about?

We looked at whether deaths due to assault varied by age, year or generation in Scotland between 1974 and 2015 and whether there were differences by sex or deprivation. We found no generational variation in deaths due to assault, unlike the generational patters we have previously found for suicide and drug-related deaths. The patterning of deaths due to assault is more similar to that of alcohol-related deaths, with more deaths between the early 1990s and 2006. Young men living in the most deprived areas were at highest risk.
