What is it about?

This case underlines the importance of a thorough diagnostic procedure, as a patient with severe sleep apnea presented with a large, tumour in the mouth and throat. The tumour originated from muscle cells in the base of tounge which is rare, but not associated with any malignancy. We removed the tumor using a robot assisted surgery system. This enabeled very thorough dissection with a minimum of discomfort for the patient afterwards. This presents a novel approach when dealing with tomours in the mouth and throat. The patients sleep apnea was reduced to a mild to moderate level and subjectively the patient felt "reborn".
