What is it about?
When contrast medium is used in a lactating mother, it is often recommended to stop breastfeeding for 24 hours. This may be sufficient in the term neonate. In a premature neonate, this may not be the same. We describe in our case a transient hypothyroidism, treated with thyroid hormone replacement.

Why is it important?
When contrast medium administration is necessary in a lactating mother, recommendations for breast feeding should be reconsidered when the child is premature.
