What is it about?
We present an un usual occurrence of CD117-positive tumors outside the gastrointestinal tract , questioning the origin of these tumors from interstitial cells of Cajal , and whether the parameters used for predicting the prognosis of GIST are suitable for extraintestinal GISTs evaluation. The origin, incidence and tumor behavior of EGIST remain to be clarified , with further research is needed in large series with long duration of follow up to set a tailored diagnosis and management guidelines to those particular tumors.
