What is it about?
Mobile Genetic Elements (MGE) play an important role in the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. Knowing the MGEs is a sure way to understand how they move around and how they transfer their genetic information between bacteria. Understanding these processes will allow us to understand the importance of the biodiversity on planet Earth

Why is it important?
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are a threat to humans. The World Health Organization predicts a toll of 10 megadeaths annually around 2050. The misuse and abuse of antibiotic consumption have led to the selection of "superbugs, " bacteria resistant to multiple antibiotics. Urgent measures must be taken to tackle this problem.
