What is it about?

We demonstrate that inosine incorporation into viral RNA can potentiate TLR7/8 activation.

Why is it important?

Our findings indicate that inosine modification of viral RNA by the RNA editing machinery can act to potentiate recognition of viral RNA by TLR7/8 during phagocytosis of infected cells. This is a novel role for A to I RNA editing.
