This study describes a novel test using the LAMP testing platform to detect Hib infection. Such infections are a global problem that affect children as well as adults.

Why is it important?
Early diagnosis of Hib infections are critical to help prevent permanent neurologic sequelae that can occur as a result of acute Hib meningitis.
Perspectives
Having observed many cases of Hib meningitis around the world and in the USA, prevention of Hib and rapid diagnosis followed by early treatment will be critical especially in resource limited settings where access to care is limited.
