What is it about?
Polyphosphate (polyP) is listed as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) food additive by FDA. polyP not only has an excellent safety profile but also can enhance bone formation and promote the growth, differentiation, and angiogenic potential of human dental pulp cells. This paper shows the antibacterial and antibiofilm effect of polyP against Prevotella intermedia, a major oral pathogen, and a possibility to use polyP as an alternative agent in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.
