What is it about?

Affordable DNA sequencing technologies have made it routine to determine the complete DNA sequence of microorganisms. Theoretically any trait can be inferred from the genomic data. For most antibiotics, resistance in Salmonella can be reliably predicted from the genomic sequence based on known resistance determinants. This provides detailed information on the genes underlying resistance in surveillance systems.
