Autoregulation of GCM1 and hCG

What is it about?

GCM1 regulates hCGβ gene expression. In turn, hCG upregulates GCM1 activity at the post-translational level to promote placental cell fusion.

Why is it important?

A revision of previous studies that GCM1, but not TFAP2, diretly upregulates hCGβ gene expression in placenta.
