What is it about?
This study focuses on adapting the University of Wisconsin Running Injury and Recovery Index (UWRI) for Turkish runners. The UWRI helps runners evaluate their own ability to return to running after common injuries. Our team translated the index into Turkish (UWRI-Tr) and tested its reliability and validity with 129 runners. The results showed that UWRI-Tr is a strong and effective tool for assessing recovery and running ability in a Turkish-speaking population.

Why is it important?
Running injuries are common, but proper assessment tools in different languages are essential for accurate recovery tracking. The UWRI-Tr provides Turkish runners and healthcare professionals with a scientifically validated tool to measure recovery progress. With excellent reliability and strong correlations with existing lower-body functional scales, it is a valuable addition to sports medicine and rehabilitation research.
Perspectives
The UWRI-Tr can be used in both clinical settings and research to assess injury recovery in Turkish runners. It also helps runners monitor their own progress, guiding them through safe and effective rehabilitation. Future research could explore how the UWRI-Tr applies to different runner populations and its role in long-term injury prevention strategies.
