What is it about?

An alternative analysis of SNPs based in genetic distances can be used in addition to the associations studies to suggest certain trends among populations, contributing to a better understanding of heritability in science of the year.

Why is it important?

Conflicting results of several previous articles have focused on the functional importance of candidate genes individually through genetic association studies based in SNPs. Our manuscript showed an alternative interpretation/use of genetic panels, approaching a concurrent contribution of SNPs, based in genetic distance and ethnics aspects between athletes and populations from 1000genomes project.

Perspectives

We believe this manuscript could encourage the physical education research community about exciting possibilities of incorporating results from databases of new genomic sequencing technologies in more and more genes and populations, as has been done by others health science fields
