Why is it important?

International measures of physical activity are important for public health and health promotion. This study provides an insight into physical activity levels of children with long-term illnesses and disabilities. The measures used are comparable with those used in other international reports, report cards and physical activity matrices.

Perspectives

It was surprising that within the majority of countries, there were no statistically significant differences in physical activity levels. However, the overall picture of physical activity remains the same, whereby as age increases, there are less children who are active, and that boys are more active than girls. It was also interesting to see that there are large differences in physical activity levels among European boys.
