What is it about?

This paper discusses the acoustical problems of a catholic church near Buenos Aires, and the solutions that were implemented to correct these deficiencies. Precise acoustical measurements were performed, and the proposed solution proved to be satisfactory from the thermal an acoustical points of view while integrating with the aesthetics of the space.

Why is it important?

Acoustical design is unfrequent in Argentina. This study describes a case of successful acoustical engineering at a moderate cost. Lessons learned from this pioneering work can be applied in other worship spaces.

Perspectives

It was a pleasure working with Pablo Gardella, a long-time collaborator of ITBA's acoustic group. Having a positive review of the new acoustics - both from the parish priest and from the congregation - was a personal milestone in my career.
