What is it about?

Tubas play most in their low register making intonation a problem. The typical tuba is not chromatic and the players must continually adjust slides to play in tune. This paper designs a tuba that is chromatic as is the double French horn.

Why is it important?

The design is unique in its use of double valves and one ascending valve.

Perspectives

It is hoped tuba players will understand that unlike string instruments old poorly engineered tubas are not as good as the musical world deserves. They need to move to newer concepts that have been tried and found to work in smaller instruments.
